YOOTUBE
YOOTUBE
No Shorts, no featured clutter. Just your subscriptions, your searches, and the videos you came for.
YOOTUBE strips YouTube down to what matters: the channels you subscribe to and the things you search for. Shorts, news shelves, ads, promos and “recommended for you” rabbit holes are gone. It comes as two companion products: a Chrome extension for the desktop and a standalone iPhone app.

YOOTUBE is an independent project and is not affiliated with or endorsed by YouTube or Google. Video thumbnails shown belong to their creators.

Save for later

- For personal use only: downloading is against YouTube’s terms of service
Looks after itself

How it’s builtA Chrome extension, a Mac helper and a SwiftUI app
A Chrome extension, a Mac helper and a SwiftUI app
Chrome extension
Manifest V3 content scripts that hide unwanted sections and follow YouTube’s in-page navigation.
Mac download helper
Chrome native messaging to yt-dlp, a Swift/AVFoundation joiner that merges video and audio without re-encoding, and LAME for MP3s.
iPhone app
SwiftUI wrapping YouTube’s mobile site in WebKit, with cleanup rules injected before each page loads and a native bar and search sheet.
Solved along the way
YouTube’s video files report twice their real length, so the joiner measures the true length from the video frames.
Status: both are personal-use projects. The iPhone app is on private TestFlight, and the Chrome extension isn’t in the Chrome Web Store.
